UMAGA is a professional non-profit association of
Independent Manufacturers Representatives that serve a wholesale
market for gifts and housewares. The association operates a 225,000
sq ft wholesale Merchandise Mart with 200 showrooms in Minnetonka,
MN. In addition to full oversight of the operation, the Executive
Director serves as the primary advisor to the Board of Directors and
primary contact for over 100 business owners that comprise the
Association. Strategic responsibilities include marketing,
organizational efforts and finance. In a professional association of
competitive owners, the Executive Director works to maintain a
neutral operating environment that serves the needs of all members.
My specific challenge in this position is to modernize the marketing
and outfacing appearance of the organization to improve relevancy in
the face of a changing marketplace.

Modernized corporate branding and
communications campaigns resulting in increased trade show
attendances by 10-20% during a period of decline in other national
and industry venues.

Developed and implemented centralized
data system for external print and web publications which reduces
regular labor needs by over 30%. The new system allows for
real-time accuracy and delivery of data which was previously updated
only twice annually.

Directed and oversaw trade show
activities which generated additional revenue to allow return of
all annual trade show fees to Association members. A first in
the 30+ years in the current mart facilities.

Successfully managed and executed a
$500K facility remodeling project.
